BEAUTIFULLY SMALL FOR SETTING YOUR HOME WITH HYGGE IN MIND…

We all have some small spaces and struggle to know how to fit everything into it that you need. Well in Beautifully Small, Sara Emslie embraces the positive aspects of living in small spaces and offers creative design and style solutions to the practical problems associated with limited living space.

In Chapter 1: Inspiration, Sara draws inspiration from truly tiny spaces such as boats and caravans as well as her own home – a diminutive workman’s cottage in Richmond, London.

In Chapter 2: Elements of Design, she discusses how even the most straightforward planning decisions can be complicated by the constraints of small spaces and suggests clever design solutions.

The third chapter, Elements of Style, explores ideas for making compact interiors work through creative styling and decoration.

In Chapter 4, a series of case studies takes a closer look at imaginative treatments for pocket-size interiors, showcasing a variety of tiny spaces including a terraced ‘two-up, two-down’ worker’s cottage, a tiny studio with a clever mezzanine that incorporates a bathroom and a pint sized coastal hideaway.

A lovely book for your coffee table.

4 OF MY FAVOURITE IMAGES OF A #HYGGE LIFESTYLE ON PINTEREST THIS WEEK…

Here are 4 of my favourite images of a #hygge lifestyle on Pinterest this week…

Being prone to bouts of depression, my friend Lynda and I have embarked on a bit of a personal development journey together this year to maintain our wellness, mindfulness and positivity, and look after each other.  We regularly send each other little gifts in the post, meet up for coffee, and

Those cold winter nights call for an evening by the fire...

Love the two pairs of boots next to the fire from The Londonor on Pinterest

This basket is perfect for homes with more compact fireplaces and will hold enough logs for a whole night snuggled by the fire - very hygge. It's also ideal for laundry, toys or towels. Find more hygge decor inspiration at housebeautiful.co.uk

IMAGES OF A QUICK VISIT TO COPENHAGEN, SKAGEN AND OSLO…

We recently had a week’s cruise visiting Copenhagen and Skagen in Denmark, plus Oslo in Norway. Each stop left me with some beautiful images that I wanted to share on this blog.

From the famous Little Mermaid to the mass of cyclists and the massive amount of wind farms across the bay, it was all a beauty I will remember well in Copenhagen.

Skagen was pretty and lots of yellow houses and white windows with trendy restaurants and interior gifts to buy. Although very expensive it was well worth visiting.

Oslo to me was the icing on the cake and although a rather damp and dull day it did not dampen the visit. Looking quite autumnal with lots of leaves on the floor and rugs on chairs it. With trolls so famous in the area and in most shop windows, it brought back memories of younger years. The journey from the harbour out to see was absolutely beautiful with little islands and painted houses which seemed to go on forever.

We loved our visit to Denmark and Norway and I hope to return again soon.
