GOING GREENER THE HYGGE WAY…

We are all trying to do our bit to go greener and candles are very much a part of a HYGGE Lifestyle.

They instantly add atmosphere but to keep greener make sure they are 100 per cent beeswax instead of paraffin, which can contribute to air pollution when burned.

Also don’t forget packaging as tea lights come in aluminium cups, which are recyclable but are less eco- friendly than casing-free tapers.

One great site for your greener tea lights and all candles made with beeswax is Five Bees Yard

Their beeswax candles are virtually chemical free. They are safe in contact with food if you want to use them as birthday cake candles. But they will serve your religious purpose as well.

Clean your mind and relax with our 20 minutes + relaxation candles. No fumes, no toxic chemicals. Pure nature enclosed in raw beeswax.

Zero waste – no cup tea lights. Re-use your old cups. Still the same 100% top quality raw beeswax. Unprocessed, untreated, unaltered. Pure nature that is sustainable.

HYGGE GOING GREENER WITH PAPER BALLOONS AND BUNTING…

We are all aware that going greener is the way to go but which eco switches would you like to make. While all being at home during this Pandemic we are sure many people will be having a birthday and in particular, the younger generation who will feel a little left out without all their friends around. Try swapping plastic balloons for paper and get the children making their own.

You can also buy Japanese paper balloons. Petra Boase has a lovely range including penguins and fish.

Or go for felt bunting which again you could make yourself or have it personalised. A great site is House of Hooray who has lots of ideas and simple banner flags like below.

If you love having a go yourself but are not quite sure of the sizes etc then head down to Homemade Gifts who have images and tutorials on how to make your own bunting. There is even a tutorial for a no-sew bunting.

3 GREAT PODCASTS FOR HYGGEE LOVERS…

With us all spending lots more time at home it gives us more time to listen to podcasts and there are an abundance of them out there.

This is my list of my top three to listen to this month.

1. Player FM has some great Hygge inspired Podcasts but I loved this one called The HYGGE Phenomenon Living Simply Luxuriously which is the 5th most downloaded episode of all time on Player FM.

The simple sophisticate is someone who prefers quality over quantity, sensible living over mindless consumption, personal style instead of trendy fashions, has an insatiable curiosity for life’s endless questions and a desire to live a truly fulfilling life rather than being led around by the nose. Inspired by her lifestyle blog The Simply Luxurious Life, Shannon Ables (the original Simple Sophisticate) shares with listeners tips on how to live a refined life on an everyday income. From achieving your goals, preparing a memorable meal, creating a capsule wardrobe, traveling the world (Francophiles tune in as Paris is a favorite destination), and living life to the fullest without breaking the bank, living well is really quite simple. You can download the free Player FM’s app which you can get from the App Store or Google Play.

2. Player FM has another great Podcast – HYGGE in the Early Years. A weekly Podcast embracing HYGGE to improve on self-care and happiness for Early Childhood and Education by Audioboom. Podcast Number 14, Nature and Lockdown is an episode where Kimberly shares some ways we can embrace nature during the lockdown.
www.hyggeintheearlyyears.co.uk available on Player FM’s app or Google Play like above.

3. My third choice is HYGGE Girls Podcast on podtail.com and Episode 27 is about How COVID-19 is Impacting Your Sleep & Ways to Help. Aired each Monday, host Madi Bones discusses how to achieve this sense of purpose and happiness through topics on health, social media, passions and more. It’s available direct from the Podtail website.
